The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care will teach you about teamwork, professional practice, Occupational Health and Safety, and management and leadership. Upon successful completion of the course, you will have the ability to plan and manage learning programs in a variety of early childhood settings for children aged 0–5, such as after school care, vacation care and family day care.
Participants should have a genuine interest in working with children and their families. You will need to develop good communication skills with children and adults, initiative, and awareness and respect for differing family and cultural values. Participants are also expected to develop management and leadership skills.

You will be required to undertake a Childcare Safety Screening. An AUD $140 textbook is also recommended, however it is not compulsory.

Children’s Services qualifications prepare you for work in a number of services, including long day care centres, outside-school-hours care, vacation care programs, and family day care.
Career options may include full or part-time work as a Manager, Supervisor or Qualified Children’s Services Worker in a Children’s Services setting.

At the successful completion of the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, you may receive up to 1 year’s advanced credit into a University of Tasmania 4-year Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) Degree.
